A NEW health initiative is being launched which offers Stoke City supporters the chance to win a free replica shirt . . . if they make 'light' work of the challenge.
They are being encouraged to 'Drop A Shirt Size' by getting involved in an intensive programme of activity and lifestyle changes in order to lose weight.
Those supporters who shed 5% of their body weight will be given a new City shirt for the 2012-13 season on completion of the twelve-week programme.
The Football Club will be working in conjunction with the Premier League's Creating Chances scheme, NHS Stoke-on-Trent and the Lifestyle Programme to deliver this excellent incentive for local people to make a big difference to their outlook on life.
Physical activity sessions will be held once a week throughout the programme based in or around the Britannia Stadium and this will be followed by a short discussion focused on a specific health topic such as healthy eating, hidden calories and snacking.
In order to be eligible to take part in the Drop A Shirt Size project, those wishing to put their names forward must meet the following terms and conditions:
*Each participant must be a resident of Stoke-on-Trent and must be registered with a local GP
*They must be aged between 18 and 75 years
*They need to have a wearable Stoke City shirt that matches their current chest measurement
*Each participant must have a Body Mass Index of 25 or more
The Drop A Shirt Size programme is designed to suit all needs and abilities, with no specific level of fitness required. In order to qualify for any award, participants must complete the entire twelve-week programme and will be required to:
*Be weighed at weeks 1, 3, 6 & 12
*Have their chest size measurement at weeks 1 & 12
*Have their waist measurement at weeks 1 & 12
