Edu Green Light

STOKE CITY have now moved a step closer to sealing Maurice Edu's move from Rangers.

The Club have been given the go-ahead to finalise the American international's work permit application, although it is unlikely that formalities will be completed in time for him to be available for this weekend's Premier League visit to the DW Stadium to take on Wigan Athletic.

City received Football Association approval for that application at an appeals panel on Wednesday, leaving the way clear for them to rubber-stamp Edu's move from the Scottish club.

The 26-year-old midfielder agreed terms to sign a three year contract and then passed a medical over the weekend to set up the transfer from north of the border for an undisclosed fee.

Edu will be joining his fellow USA international Geoff Cameron at the Britannia Stadium where his former Rangers team-mate Jamie Ness is another recent addition to the City squad.
