Four Changes For Cup Clash

Thumbnail
MARK HUGHES made four changes to his starting line-up for Wednesday evening's Capital One Cup Quarter-Final clash against Manchester United.

As expected, Thomas Sorensen resumed his duties in goal, having featured in all three previous cup victories against Walsall, Tranmere Rovers and Birmingham City.

The other changes from the side that held Hull to a goalless draw at the KC Stadium at the weekend saw Erik Pieters, Jonathan Walters and Wilson Palacios return.

Pieters was a straight replacement for Spanish under 21 starlet Marc Muniesa, whilst Palacios came into the team at the expense of Steven Nzonzi.

Republic of Ireland ace Walters lined up on the right hand side of midfield, with Marko Arnautovic dropping to the bench .

Manchester United named a strong side, but one that didn't include any of Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand or Ryan Giggs.

Stoke City: Sorensen; Cameron, Shawcross (c), Wilson, Pieters; Walters, Whelan, Ireland, Palacios, Assaidi; Crouch. Subs: Begovic, Wilkinson, Muniesa, Adam, Pennant, Jones, Arnautovic.
