Ireland Returns For Hull Clash

MARK HUGHES handed Stephen Ireland an immediate recall back into the starting eleven on Saturday as he made one change to the side that recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory at Villa Park last weekend.

The former Aston Villa midfielder came into the team at the expense of Wilson Palacios, having been ineligible to feature against his former side six days ago through a contractual agreement between the two clubs.

His inclusion aside, the rest of the eleven was as you were in the last league outing with Asmir Begovic ushering a back four that comprised of Geoff Cameron, skipper Ryan Shawcross, Marc Wilson and Erik Pieters.

Peter Odemwinge, who has netted three times in his last two appearances, resumed his duties on the right with the In-form Marko Arnautovic occupying the spot on the left flank.

Glenn Whelan and Steven Nzonzi remained the preferred central midfield partnership with Ireland coming back into the equation to feature just behind lone striker Peter Crouch.

Charlie Adam was named amongst the substitutes after completing his three-match ban, whilst there were also spots in the matchday squad for John Guidetti and Matthew Etherington.

Stoke City: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross (c), Wilson, Pieters; Odemwingie, Whelan, Ireland, Nzonzi, Arnautovic; Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Muniesa, Palacios, Adam, Etherington, Guidetti.
