Ireland Suffers Injury

MARK HUGHES has revealed that Stephen Ireland will miss this weekend's live televised encounter against Hull City after sustaining an injury in training.

The news will come to a blow to the Republic of Ireland ace who was named in the starting line-up against his former side Aston Villa last Saturday.

The 28-year old was again expected to feature in Sunday's game at the KC Stadium, but the City boss has confirmed he will now be without his services for a number of weeks.

"We have a problem with Stephen Ireland unfortunately, who has pulled a muscle in his rib cage," Hughes revealed at the pre-match press conference.

"It's a disappointment to us because he is a good player and somebody we would prefer to have available to us.

"It looks like he will be out for a couple of weeks at least, or until the pain has gone to allow him to move around the pitch comfortably."
