Jerome Starts

TONY PULIS handed a place in his starting line-up to Cameron Jerome for the Barclays Premier League encounter with West Ham United.

Jerome, who scored the winner in City's last home match against Reading last month, was included alongside Peter Crouch in the Potters' attack after impressing a number of times when he has been introduced from the substitutes' bench.

Fit-again Marc Wilson was given the nod to fill the gap left by the three-match suspension being served by Robert Huth, after he was handed a retrospective ban following his clash with Philippe Senderos in the Fulham game last weekend.

Pulis also preferred Michael Kightly to Brek Shea when Matthew Etherington failed a fitness test on his back problem sustained at Craven Cottage.

As well as the choice of Wilson alongside Ryan Shawcross in the centre of defence, Andy Wilkinson lined up at left back, meaning that American international Geoff Cameron had to be content with a place on the substitutes' bench.

West Ham were without key pair Kevin Nolan and Mark Noble, while James Tomkins was also ruled after being laid low by illness.

City: Begovic; Shotton, Shawcross, Wilson, Wilkinson; Walters, Whelan, Nzonzi, Kightly; Jerome Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Cameron, Palacios, Jones, Adam, Whitehead, Shea.

West Ham: Jaaskelainen; Demel, Collins, Reid, O'Brien; J Cole, Diame, O'Neil, Taylor, Jarvis; Carroll. Subs: Spiegel, C Cole, Collison, Maiga, Vaz Te, Pogatetz, Chamakh

Referee: J. Moss
