THE RACE is on to win some fantastic prizes in Santa's Red and White Dash just before Christmas at the Britannia Stadium . . . and help a good cause in the process.
Forty pubs have already signed up to take part in the event which is raising money for a PET CT Scanner Appeal at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
They will be joined by pupils from a number of local schools, while supporters of the Club are being encouraged to get involved in this fun-packed event which takes place tomorrow when entrants will be asked to complete four laps of the pitch.
The pub and school raising the most money will each win a roadshow visit that will include an appearance by a member of Stoke City's first team squad.
There will also be prizes on the day for the best-dressed Santas each hour from the 9.00am start until the lunchtime finish, with the late dash taking place at 1.00pm.
Those taking part can book a time when they wish to complete their circuits of the Britannia Stadium pitch while a reception desk will be available on the day from 8.30am in Delilah's Bar where tea and coffee will also be served for those attending the event.
A PET CT Scanner is mainly used in the assessment of cancer and the response to response to treatment, but the UHNS only has a visit from one twice a week at present, meaning it is not readily accessible to the very old, the young or wheelchair bound.
Steve Rushton, Charity Manager at UHNS, said: "This fundraising will help us to raise much-needed funds towards the purchase of the PET CT Scanner which will allow us to offer the best possible care to our patients at the hospital.
