Ladies Extend Unbeaten Run

STOKE CITY Ladies extended their unbeaten run to five games at the weekend ...with an important 3-0 away win at Radcliffe Olympic.

The table-topping Potters clearly used last Sunday's 9-0 victory over Cannock in the County Cup Semi Final as a confidence boost ahead of the tricky test at second placed Radcliffe and were always the team most likely to win.

Dawn Mallet opened the scoring by heading home Meg Bowyer's free kick from 12 yards out before Chantelle Gallagher fired in from just outside the box following good work by Natasha Catalano.

Catalano then played a lovely through ball for the third as Laura Garside latched on to round the keeper and secure the victory.

Coupled with third place Leafield's 4-1 home defeat to Loughborough Foxes, the result means that a potential league title is now in the Potters hands with seven games remaining.

City have to face Leafield both at home and away whilst they also welcome Radcliffe in the penultimate game of the season.

Attentions must first switch to the League Cup next weekend, however, with another final beckoning should they return successful from a trip to Rotherham United.
