Ladies' Perfect Preparation

STOKE CITY LADIES prepared for this weekend's League Cup Final in the perfect way last night . . . by signing off their league campaign with a 3-0 win.

Goals from Laura Garside, Dawn Mallett and Lucy Ridgeway earned the Potters their 18th victory of the 20-game season to ensure a points tally of 55 - 14 more than eventual runners-up Leicester City.

The consistent level of performance all season has resulted in the Staffordshire Senior Cup and League championship already being secured, with Sunday's clash against Leafield Athletic the final hurdle in the bid to secure a fabulous treble.

"I would like to thank all of the staff and players for their hard work this season," said joint-manager Andrew Frost.

"To have won two out of three so far is an amazing achievement for the ladies and to have our most successful season as the Club celebrates its 150th anniversary makes it even more special."

Whilst the team will be paraded at half-time of the Barclays Premier League clash against Norwich City on Saturday, fans are being encouraged to cheer them on from the terraces at the showpiece occasion itself.

Sunday's League Cup Final takes place at Stafford Rangers' Marston Road ground at 1.00pm and will be overseen by FIFA World Cup Final referee Howard Webb, whilst England record cap-maker and former Potter Peter Shilton will also be in attendance.
