Mamady's Return

MAMADY SIDIBE has been forced to cut short his loan spell with League One promotion chasers Tranmere Rovers . . . after a groin strain prematurely ended his campaign.

The Malian international, who has been hampered by unfortunate injuries in recent seasons, suffered the latest setback in Rovers' 1-0 defeat against Portsmouth on Monday.

Sidibe featured seven times for Ronnie Moore's side, including 90 minutes in each of their Easter weekend encounters against Sheffield United and Pompey.

Tranmere officials decided to send the striker back to the Britannia Stadium, having assessed the damage to Sidibe's 'abductor' in the aftermath of the Portsmouth game.

The 33-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday prior to his move to Prenton Park, impressing in ten games for the Owls.
