Ngoy To The Rescue

WOLVES U23 - 1 (Wilson)
STOKE CITY U23 - 1 (Ngoy)

JULIEN NGOY rescued a late point for Stoke City U23s following their Premier League 2 draw away at West Midlands neighbours Wolves on Wednesday night.

The Belgian cancelled out the hosts' early second half opener at Telford United's New Bucks Head stadium as the rivals shared the points.

It could have been all three points for the Potters had Tyrese Campbell converted his penalty, but the highly-rated forward saw his first half spot-kick saved by Andy Lonergan.

Stoke had the better of an otherwise poor opening 45 minutes, while goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann was called into action, making a couple of routine saves.

Immediately after the re-start, Wolves took the lead through Donovan Wilson who reacted quickest to volley in a low cross from close range.

City plugged away for a leveller, Ngoy was denied by Lonergan who sprawled himself well to stop the forward's shot.

However, in the final stages of normal time Ngoy wasn't to be stopped, who brilliantly bent his shot beyond the Wolves goalkeeper from just inside the Wolves penalty area.

The Potters' fourth successive draw sees them remain at the bottom of the Premier League 2 table, with Glyn Hodges' side back in action against Aston Villa on Monday night at Walsall's Banks's Stadium, kick-off 7pm.
