Pennant To Play A Part?

JERMAINE PENNANT is hoping to play a part in this afternoon's Under-21s friendly game against Watford.

The City winger has joined the squad for their pre-season preparations at Moulton College in Northampton this week having been unable to travel with the first team for their tour of the USA.

Pennant missed out on featuring in the 3-0 win at Bedford Town earlier this week after he sustained a slight knock during Saturday's behind-closed-doors victory over Burton Albion.

However, the 30-year-old has since returned to training and will be hoping to get some more minutes under his belt against the Hornets this afternoon, and then against Northampton Town this weekend.

"We're hoping that Jermaine will be involved in the game against Watford," Academy Director Dave Wright told

"He missed a couple of sessions at the start of the week as a precaution and following recommendations from the first team's medical staff.

"He has since been involved though and, as last year when he spent the week with us, he's been a credit to the Club and has been brilliant with the younger lads."

The Under-21 squad will be looking to make it four successive wins so far this pre-season, with 3-1 and 3-0 victories over Conwy Borough and Norton United respectively followed by the win at Bedford on Tuesday.
