Peter Odemwingie Involved In Nigeria World Cup Draw With Iran

PETER ODEMWINGIE came off the bench to almost inspire a late Nigeria win over Iran at the World Cup in Brazil last night.

The City forward was surprisingly omitted from Stephen Keshi's starting line-up for the Group F opener in Curitiba and the Super Eagles struggled to break down a well organised Iranian defence.

But once Odemwingie was brought on for Ramon Azeez in the 69th minute, he introduced more of an urgency in the play with Carlos Quierroz's side looking a lot more troubled.

They couldn't break down the door in the end though and had to settle for a draw from their opening fixture of the tournament.

Odemwingie will now be looking to force his way into the first eleven for the showdown with Asmir Begovic's Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday evening.
