STOKE CITY'S reward for overcoming Portsmouth in the Capital One Cup is a 3rd round trip to Premier League rivals Sunderland.

The Potters will make the long journey to the North East to take on last season's runners-up during the week commencing 22nd September.

The game will mark the first of two encounters against the Black cats at the Stadium of Light, with the Premier League meeting scheduled for Saturday 4th October.

The last meeting between the two sides culminated in a narrow 1-0 victory for Gus Poyet's side, courtesy of Adam Johnson's first-half effort back in January this year.

More information and full ticket details will be announced here on stokecityfc.com in due course.
