STOKE CITY have today confirmed that they will be returning to the United States for a 10-day tour that will form part of their build-up to the 2013-14 season.
A prominent feature of the trip will be a game against January-signing Brek Shea's former club, FC Dallas, while City will announce another high-profile match next week.
The decision to head Stateside follows the success of a similar trip in the countdown to the current campaign when City took on MLS sides Columbus Crew and Sporting Kansas City, as well as Orlando City, the Club where City Director Phil Rawlins is the Chairman.
The Potters will fly to the United States on Monday 22nd July and the fixture at the FC Dallas Stadium is scheduled to be the second one of the trip five days later.
"The tour to the United States was extremely successful last year, first and foremost in achieving our primary objective of helping to prepare the squad for the season ahead," said City's Chief Executive Tony Scholes in outlining initial plans for the trip this time round.
"The football management and players were impressed with the high standard of the opposition for all three games, as well as the quality of the training facilities.
"The transfer of Brek Shea subsequently presented an opportunity for us to play a match against his former club which is where we will be heading as part of this tour.
"It's also a good time to be going back with an exciting feature of the new television agreement being NBC's coverage which will enhance the Barclays Premier League's profile in the United States and if there is one market right now where we can develop our own profile, then it has to be America due to the presence of three US internationals in our squad."
The Club plan to make a further announcement about the itinerary for the 10-day tour early next week when details of their opening match will be unveiled.
