Potters Touch Down In France

STOKE CITY'S first team squad have arrived at their training base in the South of France . . . where they will spend the next four days being put through their paces by manager Mark Hughes and his back room staff.

The Potters touched down at Geneva airport in Switzerland at around 7pm local time on Wednesday, before making the short journey across the border into France - arriving at their final destination in the picturesque town of Evian around an hour later.

The 24-man travelling party included Under 21 starlets James Alabi and Jordan Keane, both of whom have impressed the City management team over the course of the past few days.

Summer acquisitions Erik Pieters and Marc Muniesa have also travelled as has Jermaine Pennant, who penned a new contract at the Britannia Stadium during the close season.

Geoff Cameron (extended leave), Brek Shea (international duty) and Kenwyne Jones (international duty) are the three first team stars not part of the group.

The players will undertake two training sessions a day throughout the course of the week, before returning back to the United Kingdom on Sunday evening ahead of a full week's training at Clayton Wood.

The squad will then travel to the United States for a ten day tour where pre-season friendlies are pencilled in against MLS sides Houston Dynamo, FC Dallas and Philadelphia Union. are on the road with the squad throughout pre-season so be sure to follow our exclusive behind the scenes blog which will bring you all of the news from inside the camp.
