Potters Unchanged

TONY PULIS stuck with an unchanged line-up as Stoke City went in search of their second Barclays Premier League win of the season at home to Sunderland.

With Republic of Ireland international Glenn Whelan having not recovered from a hamstring injury, Dean Whitehead retained his place in the centre of midfield.

Whelan's international colleague Jonathan Walters had recovered from the knock he picked up in the 4-2 defeat at Manchester United, while American international Geoff Cameron was once again preferred to Andy Wilkinson at right back.

City's substitute's bench was also the same as it had been at Old Trafford after Wilson Palacios had produced an impressive cameo display there.

Sunderland welcomed back captain Lee Cattermole from a three-match suspension and he came into the side in place of Sessegnon.

City: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Huth, Wilson;  Walters, Nzonzi, Adam, Whitehead, Kightly; Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Palacios, Jones, Owen, Upson, Etherington, Wilkinson.

Sunderland: Mignolet; Gardner, Cuellar, O'Shea, Rose; Larsson, Cattermole, Colback, McClean, Johnson; Fletcher. Subs: Westwood, Bardsley, Campbell, Kilgallon, Vaughan, Saha, Sessegnon

Referee: M. Halsey.
