Soap Stars Sign Up

CHRIS FOUNTAIN and Ryan Thomas have become the latest Coronation Street stars to sign up for next month's Britannia Stadium Big Event.

Fountain, who plays Tommy Duckworth, and Thomas, whose character is Jason Grimshaw, are to line-up for a Celebrity XI against a Stoke City Legends side in a charity match that is part of the Big Event on Sunday 2nd June.

They will be joined by their Corrie colleague Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, while cult hero Mark Stein has confirmed he will be among the ex-Potters pulling on the red and white striped shirt again for the Legends.

There's so much more to the Big Event than just the big match as the seven-hour extravaganza will also feature live music from a headline act that is yet to be announced. There will also be a fun fair and a dance competition (with a first prize of £250), while food and drink will be available.

There will also be bucket collections and fund-raising initiatives for the Stoke City Community Trust and University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
Running order:

11am - Funfair opens (North Car Park)

12noon - Turnstiles open

12-2pm - Live music from local bands

2-3pm - Dance competition, featuring 18 dance groups

3-4.45pm - Stoke City Legends v Celebrity XI match

5-5.30pm - Dance competition winners announced

6pm - Headline act

Tickets for the Britannia Stadium Big Event are available online at SCFC Direct, by calling (01782) 367599 and in-person at the stadium Ticket Office or at the Potteries Shopping Centre Club Store in Hanley.
