Stoke City 2013/14 Review: August

4TH // Jonathan Walters netted the only goal of the game against Wrexham, as the Potters continued their build-up to the new campaign with a 1-0 victory over Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground.

10TH // Italian Serie A side Genoa provided stern opposition for Mark Hughes' side at the Britannia Stadium in the final pre-season warm up fixture, which ended goalless in front of just under 10,000 spectators.

17TH // Jonathan Walters' stoppage time penalty was saved by Liverpool's Simon Mignolet, as the Reds inflicted an opening day defeat upon the Potters courtesy of Daniel Sturridge's first-half strike.

22ND // Erik Pieters joined a number of young Potters supporters at Longton Rugby Club as the hugely popular Summer Soccer Schools event was held.

24TH // Mark Hughes recorded his first league win as City boss as strikes from Charlie Adam and Ryan Shawcross complete a superb comeback against newly-promoted Crystal Palace, who led the game through Marouane Chamakh's first goal for the Eagles.

27TH // Mark Hughes captured his fourth acquisition of the summer transfer window by concluding a season-long loan deal for Liverpool and Morocco international winger Oussama Assaidi.
