Stoke City 2013/14 Review: October

1ST // Defender Geoff Cameron launches the Club's Premier League 4 Sport initiative at the Fenton Manor Sports Centre, whilst teammates Ryan Shawcross and Marc Muniesa took part in the Supporters Club's meet the player event inside the Tony Waddington Suite later in the evening.

5TH // Fulham striker Darren Bent broke City hearts at Craven cottage as he netted the only goal of the game eight minutes from time to cruelly deny the Potters of a thoroughly deserved point.

10TH // Thomas Sorensen scooped the coveted 'Masterchef trophy' after stepping into the Club's 'Stoke Kitchen' event at the last minute, and impressing Gino D'Acampo sufficiently enough to triumph over teammates Jermaine Pennant and Erik Pieters.

14TH // Winger Jermaine Pennant was on hand to officially confirm the Club's new partnership with M Club Spa and Fitness in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.

17TH // A busy month for the Commercial team was capped off when Steven Nzonzi and boss mark Hughes undertook a photo shoot at the Britannia Stadium to officially unveil a new partnership between the Club and Interlink.

19TH // Asmir Begovic proves to be the Stoke City hero against midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion at the Britannia Stadium when he made an incredible trio of saves to thwart Baggies forward Stephane Sessegnon and claim his side a point.

26TH // A disappointing month continued at Old Trafford despite Mark Hughes coming just eleven minutes away from recording a famous victory against his former side. Peter Crouch and Marko Arnautovic had twice put the visitors in front against Manchester United, but late goals from Wayne Rooney and substitute Javier Hernandez secured the hosts a dramatic 3-2 win.

29TH // It proved to be a night of goals at St Andrews in the last 16 of the Capital One Cup when the ball hit the back of the net no fewer than 14 times. A comfortable passage through to the Quarter-Finals looked to have been secured thanks to Oussama Assaidi, Peter Crouch and Marko Arnautovic, only for the ten-man Blues to score twice late on to take the game to extra-time. Kenwyne Jones restored the visitors' lead before Olly Lee took the tie to spot-kicks, where Mark Hughes' side finally reigned supreme thanks to 4-2 penalty shootout triumph.
