MARTIN O'NEILL has named three Stoke City stars in his Republic of Ireland squad for four upcoming friendlies.

O'Neill shortened a provisional squad to a 29-man party with Marc Wilson, Glenn Whelan and Jonathan Walters all making the cut.

City's trio will look to be involved in four games starting with a match against Turkey at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Sunday (25th May).

They then act as Italy's warm-up for the FIFA World Cup opener with England when they take on the Azzuri at Craven Cottage on Saturday 31st May.

Further games take place in the States, with Costa Rica the opponents in Philadelphia on Friday 6th June and Portugal waiting in New Jersey on Tuesday 10th June.
