Stoke Kitchen In Safe Hands

THOMAS SORENSEN is determined to prove he is as good with his hands in the kitchen as he has been on a football pitch for many years . . . by becoming the first Stoke City player to take up the challenge for the 2012 contest.

The Danish international goalkeeper will be one of three first team players to take part in the latest Stoke Kitchen featuring the Italian celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo when it takes place at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday 9th October.

Sorensen will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of Rory Delap and Matthew Upson who were crowned the Club's Master Chefs in the previous two years when this event has proved to be hugely successful and highly entertaining.

Both the 36-year-old 'keeper and two team-mates, who will be confirmed in the next few days, will have their culinary skills put to the test by D'Acampo in a special show kitchen which will be created in the Tony Waddington Suite.

They will be challenged to prepare starters, main courses and desserts under the watchful of a chef who shot to stardom when he won the 2009 'I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here' and has featured regularly on television since then.

While the event itself is being sponsored by Wrights Pies, Sorensen's bid to win the 2012 Stoke Kitchen is being backed by KMF.

Gareth Higgins, Managing Director of KMF, said: "We believe we're onto a winner here. The most experienced of the three players has won each of the last two Stoke Kitchens, so we are pinning our hopes on Thomas this time.

"He has proved to be a cool customer on the field throughout his career and he will need that quality in the heat of the kitchen."

He added: "This has proved to be a fantastic event over the past two years and we are delighted to supporting it once again in this way."

Tickets for the 2012 Stoke Kitchen are priced at £1,500 plus VAT for a table of 10 people which includes a three course meal and three bottles of wine on each table, as well as photographic opportunities on the night.
