STOKE CITY'S Under-17s have made it through to the semi-finals of the Generation Adidas Cup in America on Saturday thanks to a 1-0 victory in the early hours of Friday morning.

Charles Weston-Hayles' third strike in as many games secured the win against Toronto FC and has set up a last four tie with Brazilian side Flamengo at the FC Dallas Stadium at 00:30 BST on Saturday morning.

The young Potters got their Group B campaign off to a great start on Tuesday evening when they overcome LA Galaxy with a 2-0 victory courtesy of strikes from defender Lewis Banks and Weston-Hayles.

The side then played out a 2-2 draw in their next match against Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night with goals from Belgian attacker Julien N'Goy and Weston-Hayles. However, City missed out on an extra point after losing 4-2 in a penalty shootout to the MLS side.

The triumph over Toronto though secured their place in the semi finals as the second-placed team with the best record among the tournament's 12 competitors.

City will now come against a Flamengo outfit who are the competition's highest scorers, having netted 12 goals in their previous three group games.

The semi-final will be streamed live on the MLS Soccer website and supporters can view the game by clicking HERE.
