Under 21s Fixtures Released

THE FIXTURE list for Stoke City's new Elite Development Squad has been unveiled... with two matches scheduled for the Britannia Stadium later in 2012.

Home games against fellow National Group 2 occupants Newcastle United and Sunderland will take place at the Club's ground on September 3rd and October 8th respectively.

The Potters will kick-off their campaign at home to Manchester United on August 18th, before visiting Aston Villa a week later. They will also face matches against Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford in the eight-team league.

Under the format for the inaugural competition, the clubs in each group will face each other home and away before Christmas, with the top three finishers from Groups 1 and 2 and the top two finishers from Group 3 forming an Elite Group. The other sides will form two Qualification Groups.

The teams in each new group will play twice, with the leading three teams from the Elite Group qualifying for the semi-finals alongside the winner of a play-off between the highest finishers from the two Qualification Groups.

Winners of the semi-finals will then contest the final, with all knock-out games to be played at the home team's main ground.

The team visit Nantwich Town tonight (Monday) as they continue their pre-season preparations, with tickets available on-the-door at the Weaver Stadium for a 7.30pm kick-off.

Fixtures for the Club's Under 18s will be announced soon.
