Wilkinson Returns

TONY PULIS made just the one enforced change to his starting line-up for Stoke City's visit to Carrow Road for the Barclays Premier League match against Norwich City.

Pulis handed the chance to Andy Wilkinson to deputise for the injured Marc Wilson, as he had done after the Republic of Ireland international was stretchered off seven days ago.

Wilkinson, who has operated at left back on occasions in the past, was given the nod ahead of other possible candidates Matthew Upson, Jamie Ness and Maurice Edu.

That was the only change to the side which drew with Sunderland at the Britannia Stadium, meaning that Matthew Etherington had to be content with a place on the bench.

Pulis had indicated in the build-up to the match that Etherington was pressing hard for a starting spot after his impressive cameo appearance against the Black Cats.

City were boosted by the return to fitness of Glenn Whelan, but he was named among the substitutes along with Cameron Jerome, who replaced Michael Owen.

Jerome returned to the matchday squad after being linked with a loan move to Blackburn Rovers and he was required after Owen didn't make the trip due to injury.

City: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Huth, Wilkinson; Walters, Adam, Nzonzi, Whitehead, Kightly; Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Whelan, Palacios, Jones, Upson, Etherington, Jerome.
