City's youth side slipped to their first defeat of the season on Saturday at Sunderland.
The Black Cats came out narrowly on top of a game that saw just a single goal.
Danzelle St. Louis-Hamilton was the hero and the villain of the game for the Potters, firstly, saving a penalty and then misjudging the ball to allow in the winning goal for Sunderland.
The penalty was awarded in the 9th minute after Sunderland's Home-Jackson was adjudged to have been taken down inside the box. St. Louis-Hamilton dived low and to his left denying Sunderland the opportunity to open the day's scoring.
Up until the break both sides were keeping possession well, making good runs, but not quite creating scoring opportunities with the lads re-entering the dressing-room with nothing on the scoreboard.
The Potters started the second half brightly and really took the game to Sunderland.
Later on in the second half St. Louis-Hamilton mis-read a cross that was then forced goalwards from close range having already beaten the Stoke keeper.
Even after Sunderland's 72nd minute winner, Stoke were not disheartened and carried on making strides forward, however there were no clear shots on goal.
Right-back Kenny Keys had an excellent game, solid in defence and good going forward, and he hooked up well with Salif Diao down the flank.
Coach Adrian Pennock was pleased with the lad's performance. "They were a good team and our boys did well, especially second half, we were the better team second half; but we were a little bit short upfront.
"I think the game should have been 0-0 that would have been a better reflection of the teams and the game."
