Leeds United 0 Stoke City 0

Posted on: Tue 23 Oct 2007

City travelled to Leeds on the back of some disappointing results, and put in a solid performance.

The game ended a goal-less draw, with the boys bringing a lot of positives back with them.

The youngsters start was a little unsure; Leeds played a diamond in midfield which seemed to cause the lads a few problems.

City keeper Steve Ryan had a busy first half, but he handled it very well, his kicking and handling were both excellent.

It was an entertaining game; the Potters rode their luck in the first half but made it to the break unscathed.

The team talk at half time seemed to really lift City and they responded to Leeds advances well.

City looked the stronger of the two teams in the second half and looked like they could have taken all three points, with a couple of great chances.

In the 90th minute, City had the best chance of the game. Jeff Ho linked up with Jimmy Phillips, and then Marc Grocott played it into Dean McCormick. Dean was one on one with the keeper but unfortunately he put it wide.

Youth Coach Adrian Pennock said, "It was a very good game, I told the boys afterwards that I was very proud of them. We looked the stronger of the two sides second half and maybe could have nicked it.

"We kept the ball better second half. In the first half we could win the ball back but then we gave it away too cheaply," he added.

Stoke City (4-4-2): Ryan, Keys, Ho, Parsons, Owens, Diao (Forrester 60), Philips, Grocott, Wedderburn, McDonald, McCormick. Subs (not used): St. Louis-Hamilton, Vauls, Watson, Thorley.
