Southend United 3 Stoke City 1
City's Academy are out of this years FA Youth Cup after slipping to a 3-1 defeat against Southend United last night.
Marc Grocott's penalty proved to be just a consolation, after he levelled the scorelines in the 31st minute.
A brace from Rhys Henry (5, 54) and a James Lindie (88) strike secured a passage into Round Four for the Shrimpers.
The Potters fought bravely against a side that Youth Coach Adrian Pennock recently tagged as the best in the division.
Speaking following the match he said: "We are disappointed with the result, as i think individual goals cost us.
"They are a good side but i am very very disappointed because I honestly thought we were the best team.
"We conceded three awful goals, and missed three or four very good chances and that proved to be the difference.
"The lads showed great effort and determination though. There were over 1,000 fans there so it was a great experience for all of them."
