City Director and Austin Aztex President Phil Rawlins admits he is delighted with how his new side have progressed this season, despite succumbing to defeat in the Conference Final last night.
Jamie Watson's first half strike wasn't enough to secure a spot in the 'Super Fours' as Laredo Heat came from behind to secure a 3-1 win.
However, despite the obvious disappointment, Rawlins said nobody could have predicted such a superb debut season.
"Of course I'm disappointed," he told the clubs official website.
"The coaches and players wanted desperately to bring a conference championship home to Austin.
"The fans were absolutely spectacular this season and I'm disappointed for them, too.
"When this season began, it would have been difficult imagining the team going this far. But it happened, and this is just a beginning. I can't wait for next season!"
Victory against the 2007 defending champions Heat on Sunday, would have seen the Southern Conference title head to Texas for the first ever time.
Stoke City would like to congratulate both Phil and the club on such a superb debut season.
