Adrian Heath's Austin Aztex secured a historic victory over reigning MLS Cup and League champions Columbus Crew in their final pre-season friendly over the weekend.

The result stands the club, who are due to get their inaugral USL 1 season underway next month, in good stead ahead of their opening league fixture against Porto Rico Islanders.

The match against Ohio based Crew took place in Austin on Saturday night where former Coventry star Eddie Johnson bagged the decisive goal early in the first half.

Despite the visitors labelled as strong favourites ahead of the clash it was indeed the Aztex who pretty much dominated the encounter from start to finish.

The result brings an end to the three match MLS friendlies following clashes against New England Revolution and fellow Texas side Houston Dynamo, whom they sceured a 2-2 draw against.
