Alan Hudson

Posted on: Tue 22 Jun 2010

Hudson was one of the most gifted footballers of his generation - an inside-forward who at times could make the ball talk.

He had two spells at the Victoria Ground - the first from January 1974 to December 1976 and the second from January 1984 to September 1985.

Alan gained fame playing for Chelsea from 1965-74, where he unfortunately missed out on an FA Cup medal due to injury.

He did, however pick up a European Cup Winner's Cup medal with them against Real Madrid in 1971.

Hudson was commonly known as one of the most skilful players of his time, during both of his spells at the Victoria Ground.

He would often intricately weave between defenders and create opportunities for his team-mates to score.

Hudson is the only player in the 'Hall of Fame' to have been on the losing side in the 1972 League Cup Final.

Appearances for the Potters: 161 + 1 substitute appearance. 9 goals.
