Ladies Suffer Final Heart-Break
Stoke City Ladies were unfortunate to suffer defeat in the League Cup Final last night.
The Ladies, who have been on a memorable cup run, went down 2-1 after extra time in what was a very hard fought contest with Lichfield Diamonds.
The Potters took the lead with a 1st half strike from Chantelle Gallagher and dominated the second half but could not turn their possession into another goal and paid the price when Lichfield took it to extra-time with a strike five minutes from time.
Extra-time saw both sides struggle to create chances and it was the Diamonds who struck the winner with a goal in the 2nd period.
Manager Warren Leat was obviously disappointed with the result, but took great heart from the girls performance.
"We worked very hard and created the better chances in normal time, but we paid the price for not finishing the game when we could have.
"We are all very proud of the girls and what has been a great cup run, but now we can get back to concentrating on the league."
