9 mins: The Potters have the first serious chance when the ball falls to stand-in skipper Glenn Whelan twenty yards from goal. The Irishman can only steer a powerful shot wide of the goal, however.
14 mins: A dangerous free kick delivered from the right hand side sees Ryan Shawcross somehow put the ball over the bar from three yards out.
18 mins: Dave Kitson sends Vincent Pericard clear on goal but the powerful striker blazes the ball high and wide.
19 mins: City force a corner as they start to pressurise the visitors. Danny Pugh gets caught with a high boot on the edge of the area and Mark Halsey awards a free-kick
21 mins - GOAL: Glenn Whelan steps up and brilliantly curls the ball over the wall and into the back of the net to put the Potters ahead.
22 mins: Rotherham have a penalty claim turned down when Reuben Reid goes down in the box.
23 mins: Andy Wilkinson loses possession to Alex Rhodes but the midfielder's great cross fails to find a Rotherham player in the box.
25 mins: Whelan drills another shot over the bar.
29 mins: Kitson narrowly misses the ball at the back post as Shawcross heads Whelan's free kick back across goal.
32 mins: Andy Warrington in the Rotherham goal pulls off an outstanding save to deny Richard Cresswell's superb swivel volley.
37 mins: Whelan tries again but a left footed strike goes just wide of Warrington's left hand post following a knock down from Leon Cort.
39 mins: Pericard is denied a penalty after shielding a neat dink from Kitson and attempting to turn the defender. A foul is given the opposite way, however, as the striker was adjudged to have pulled his marker's shirt.
45 mins: The visitors fail to create anything from a free-kick as the half draws to a close.

47 mins: Seyi Olofinjana shoots straight at the keeper after working his way past Ian Sharps.
49 mins: Pericard fires inches wide from 25 yards out as City look for a second.
52 mins: Great reaction save from Steve Simonsen denies Reid at the other end.
57 mins: The Millers push forward again, this time on the break, and Reid cuts inside for Broughton but he puts the ball over the bar having been closed down well.
58 mins: Amdy Faye replaces Seyi Olofinjana.
59 mins - GOAL: Danny Pugh makes it 2-0 to the Potters with a cool finish into the back of the net having been set through on goal by Dave Kitson. Superb celebration too with a handstand and a back flip from the former Manchester United man. His first goal for the club.
61 mins: Rotherham force a corner as they look to get back into the game straight away.
71 mins: Ryan Taylor replaces Danny Harrison for the visitors.
72 mins: An impressive Kitson puts Cresswell through on goal but Werrington is out quickly to deny the Potters a third goal.
74 mins: Ricardo Fuller comes on for Vincent Pericard.
75 mins: Cresswell goes close with a header from Carl Dickinson's cross.
79 mins: Kitson is denied a first goal for the club by the assistant referee when tucking the ball into the net after Warrington had parried Cresswell's left footed strike.
82 mins: Reid goes into the referee's book for a foul on Pugh.
83 mins: Simonsen saves a speculative long range effort from sub Ryan Taylor.
84 mins: Simonsen then rushes out to thwart Reid who tries to latch onto a through ball.
86 mins: Reid cuts in from the right to drill a powerful shot over the bar as the Millers try to pull back a late consolation.
