MINUTE-TO-MINUTE
2.50pm: Welcome to stokecityfc.com for live coverage of today's game. Tony Pulis has made one change to the line-up from the defeat at home to West Ham United, with Leon Cort coming in for Danny Pugh. Andy Wilkinson will take his place at left back while Ryan Shawcross will feature at right back.
2.55pm: It's a lovely sunny day here in Hull, the ground is more or less full now and we're just getting ready for the teams to come out onto the pitch. A win here today would see the Potters guarantee a second season in the Barclays Premier League, whilst West Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion could return to the Coca-Cola Championship if they fail to win.
2.59pm: The two teams walk out onto the pitch and we're nearly ready for kick off! The eagle-eyed observers here will notice that the advertising boards around the side of the pitch have been moved closer to the pitch in a bid to combat Rory Delap's dangerous long throws.
3.02pm: The Potters get together for a team huddle as the Hull PA announcer attempts to get the atmosphere going around the stadium. It's a massive game for the hosts.
3.03pm: Rory Delap and Liam Lawrence get the game underway.
3 mins: "Delilah" bellows out of stand housing the visiting supporters as they make their voices heard on the trip to Humberside.
5 mins: Delap just fails to connect with an Etherington cross to the near post after City had broken on the counter-attack. Liam Lawrence then wins the Potters their first corner of the afternoon. Whelan plays the corner short to Etherington but two Hull defenders manage to win the ball back and clear it to saftety.
7 mins: Etherington drills the ball just wide of Boaz Myhill's left hand post. Myhill was actually on the books at the Britannia Stadium once upon a time, being named as an unused substitute during a brief loan spell from Aston Villa.
10 mins: Etherington booked by referee Howard Webb for a foul on Richard Garcia down Hull's right flank. The follow free kick is wasted, however, by Nick Barmby.
11 mins: Thomas Sorensen tips Daniel Cousin's close range header over the bar after Garcia did well to keep the ball in down the left and beat Wilkinson before sending in a cross.
13 mins: Garcia escapes a booking for a similar tackle on Etherington as City are awarded a free kick deep on the left the side after the winger had received an excellent cross field ball. Liam Lawrence's ball in finds Abdoulaye Faye at the back post via Rory Delap, but the big centre half cannot direct it goalwards.
14 mins: Kevin Kilbane drills the ball wide after a knock down by a Hull centre forward.
16 mins: Sorensen does really well to tip a Andy Dawson cross out of the area with a whole host of players in the box. Lawrence had gone down with an injury prior to the cross, will he be able to carry on? Danny Pugh is sent to warm up as Lawrence gets up to soldier on.
18 mins: Lawrence has a word with manager Tony Pulis and physio Dave Watson, and it looks like it's his foot where he caught a knock. He says he's okay to continute though.
22 mins: Richard Garcia finds time to bring a ball down on the left side and turn infield to shoot at goal, but Sorensen is more than a match for his attempt.
23 mins: Kamil Zayatte produces a "centre half's finish" with a blast into Row Z after a Hull corner kick was cleared to him on the edge of the box.
26 mins: Lawrence lashes a powerful right footed attempt onto the top of the net from a tight angle after a cross from the left. Awesome technique by the wide man.
28 mins: Ricardo Fuller fires just wide of Myhill's right hand post after picking up the ball from Matthew Etherington.
32 mins: Hull's claim for a penalty waved away after Barmby went down under pressure from Shawcross. Replays suggest that Shawcross had simply held his ground.
36 mins: Cousin fires over the bar from the edge of the area after a cross from the left hand side.
40 mins: The Potters go just inches away from scoring after a superb counter attack. A Hull cross was brought out of the area by Wilkinson who played it to Etherington. He one-two'd it up the left with Glenn Whelan and Ricardo Fuller, with the Jamaican doing really well to beat Zayatte and bomb forward in the process. Etherington's ball in then finds Lawrence and his shot is deflected just wide for a corner.
41 mins - GOAL: Fuller breaks the deadlock here at the KC Stadium! YES!! Lawrence's corner from the left found Leon Cort and several Hull defenders. The ball dropped to the floor and Fuller was the first to react, swivelling well to volley a shot beyond the goalkeeper and the man on the post. That's his ninth of the season.
43 mins: Fuller goes for his second of the afternoon but a left footed attempt goes wide.
3.49pm: Howard Webb blows up and the Potters go into the break in the lead.
HALF-TIME. HULL CITY 0 STOKE CITY 1.
4.05pm: Hull City get the second half underway. No changes were made by either manager at half-time.
46 mins: Sorensen does really well to get down low to his left and tip a Kilbane strike around the post.
47 mins: Delap fools the Hull team with a short throw in to Lawrence as they gear up men in the box and one on the back post, anticipating him to go long.
51 mins: The Potters break again on the counter-attack through Shawcross and Fuller down the right. The latter puts a cross in to the back post by Garcia is there to head it away from Etherington.
51 mins: Whelan volleys just over the bar from long range.
57 mins: Another great save by Sorensen is made after Garcia connected with a header from Barmby's left wing cross.
59 mins: Hull awarded a free kick right on the edge of the area after Wilkinson caught Garcia with a late challenge. It's on Hull's right side, so left footed Dawson steps up. Thankfully, he blazes it high and wide.
60 mins: Double substitution by Phil Brown. Daniel Cousin comes off for Manucho while Bernard Mendy replaces Ricard Garcia. Like for like changes.
64 mins: Lawrence does well to win a corner on the right hand side and receives a rapturous applause from the City faithful behind the goal. His ball into the box is headed away only as far as Whelan on the edge of the area, and he volleys at goal. The strike looks like it's about to go in the "postage stamp" but instead hits the post and bounces clear with the keeper beaten!
65 mins: Play stops after a clash of heads between Zayatte and Cort. Zayatte had already hit his head once as well.
67 mins: Zayatte cannot continue and he's replaced by Geovanni as Hull go for broke. Kevin Kilbane will have to fill in now at centre half.
69 mins: Abdoulaye Faye does well to thwart a dangerous low cross at the near post but in turn has to concede a corner. Mendy's ball to the back post is just too high though for Barmby.
73 mins - GOAL: YES!!! IT'S TWO!!! Myhill has no chance as Liam Lawrence unleashes a screamer into the far corner of the net from the right wing to double City's advantage! Fuller did so well in the build up play as well. Tony Pulis' men are edging closer and closer to Barclays Premier League survival.
77 mins: Barmby heads wide from a Mendy cross from the right. The Stoke fans behind the goal are loving every minute of the day here.
78 mins: Tony Pulis makes his first sub of the day with Richard Cresswell coming on for James Beattie.
85 mins: Matthew Etherington comes off for Danny Pugh.
86 mins: A Hull cross from the right is easily claimed by Sorensen. Hull can't seem to create anything substantial. So far, so good. The visiting supporters, meanwhile, continue with their singing behind the goal.
88 mins: The home supporters are starting to leave the stadium as they can't see any way back now for their side. The hosts are having plenty of possession but cannot break the City backline whatsoever. It's been a great defensive performance.
90 mins: The fourth official has given a minimum of SIX minutes injury time.
91 mins: Richard Cresswell wins City a free kick in the centre of the field as Ricardo Fuller is replaced by Stephen Kelly. City now have five at the back as they look to see out the final few remaining minutes.
94 mins: Hull awarded a free kick just over 20 yards out from goal. Geovanni is lining up to take as Stoke build their wall.
95 mins - GOAL: It's Dawson who steps up though, and he curls a great left-footed strike into the top right hand corner of the net. A second free kick in successive games where Sorensen has no chance whatsoever.
96 mins: Geovanni tries his luck with a long range shot that deflects off Whelan, wrongfoots Sorensen and goes literally inches wide of the post. Hull are in uproar as Webb gives a goalkick.
96 mins: The referee blows the whistle on the game, and City have secured a second season in the top flight!! All the players and management go over to the supporters to applaud them, including manager Tony Pulis. It's been such a season of drama and we'll be going through it all again, in the Premier League, next year! WE. ARE. PREMIER LEAGUE.
FULL-TIME. HULL CITY 1 STOKE CITY 2.
