Potters Touch Down

Posted on: Sun 20 Jul 2008

Tony Pulis and his squad arrived at their luxurious hotel in Bad Aussee late last night.

The City boss, joined by his first team coaching staff, has brought a squad of 20 players for the matches against FC Nuremburg and the Bahrain national team.

The team arrived at their hotel just after 8:30pm Saturday night, before enjoying a meal and relaxing in their lucious new surroundings.

Pulis and co also made time to catch up with Bolton boss Gary Megson, who after being so impressed with the facilities during his brief stay with the Potters a year ago, brought his own team here before leaving this morning.

The players will undertake a gruelling two training sessions a day in temperatures which could reach as high as 30 degrees.

The first session got under way at 10 am this morning, where the players travelled to the training ground on bike, before taking part in a light running session and ball control.

Several different sessions followed including a passing competition and one touch pass and shoot. New boy Dave Kitson was up and running immediately and buried his first effort past Steve Simonsen, much to the delight of Liam Lawrence, who shouted: "Five million well spent, what a finish."

The full squad in Austria is as follows:

Simonsen, Griffin, Shawcross, Cort, Wilkinson, Buxton, Dickinson, Whelan, Diao, Pugh, Cresswell, Lawrence, Matteo, Pulis, Delap, Fuller, Parkin, Pericard, Kitson, Sidibe.
