Tony Pulis admits he is honoured to be taking charge of the Potters as they take on giants Real Madrid in Austria this evening.
City face the reigning La Liga champions who are expected to name a strong line up, with Bernd Schuster taking charge for the first time.
Speaking ahead of the match he says: "They're the biggest club in the world without a doubt and it's such a privilege to be playing them.
"I've been asked how we've managed to get such a tie so many times when no one else in the country has anything like this, and it's great that Stoke City will be the club that takes them on.
"There's five or six television stations picking up the game and it's just a friendly. That kind of thing follows them everywhere though and shows what a big club they really are."
While Pulis admits the players are relishing the experience he says it is totally different for himself and the coaching staff.
Saying: "It's different for a manager because you're not really involved but I will definitely enjoy the occasion."
Every available player in the squad will play apart in the match according to the manager, and he says it will be a moment they will never forget.
"It's a great game for the players though, especially the younger ones in the squad.
"They'll all make an appearance on the pitch, whether it be for five or ten minutes, and they'll all have a chance to say in 40 or 50 years time that they have played against Real Madrid.
"Stepping onto the pitch with the likes of Raul, van Nistelrooy and Cannavaro is great and can only benefit the players," he adds.
