Danny Higginbotham has today signed a four-year deal with Premiership side Sunderland.

The defender, who joined the Potters for £250k from Southampton twelve months ago, has agreed an initial £2.5m move to the Stadium of Light after holding talks with manager Roy Keane and Chairman Niall Quinn.

City could receive a further £500k depending on the club's and player's future success.

Danny made 48 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals, and was named as captain following Michael Duberry's departure to Reading in January.
