City coach Mark O'Connor thought the 1-0 win over Bradford City was well deserved despite the team claiming all three points in the 91st minute.
Lewis Buxton's header was enough to extend the Potters unbeaten start to the campaign and highlights the improvements made from last season.
"I'll take the win because I think that we deserved it," said O'Connor.
"I thought we played well and we're pleased with all the lads.
"The first half we played the ball around well but just lacked the finishing touch.
"I think if we would have scored early on we would have gone on to get a couple more.
"The second half saw Bradford put more bodies behind the ball and our lads got a bit frustrated at times.
"But we kept going until the end and I'm happy with the win and the progress being made."
O'Connor also praised Jamaican winger Demar Phillips following his trek around the globe to make the game.
"Demar didn't arrive at the ground until late before the kick-off as he flew over from Jamaica and also had different fitness tests to do but we've seen glimpses of what he's about and he'll continue to improve."
