Vince's Prison Break

Posted on: Fri 21 Sep 2007

City striker Vincent Pericard will be released from prison on Monday and will shortly after be available for selection.

The French striker will be allowed to leave HM Prison Leyhill, near Bristol, but will be fitted with a tag similar to the one Jermaine Pennant wore during his time at Birmingham City.

"He's being tagged and will be out on Monday," coach Mark O'Connor confirmed.

"I think with tags he's allowed twelve hours out which are from 7am until 7pm.

"We've sent off a list of fixtures for evening games where we will have to change his times or they allow him to go over that time.

"He's going to have to buy or rent a place in the area I imagine as he can't drive or come from Manchester every day.

"It'll be Monday though until I can tell you more in-depth."

Vincent Pericard's agent, John Mac, issued the following brief statement.

"Vincent's obviously learnt a valuable lesson.

"His only thoughts now are to return to Stoke City and get back to working extremely hard in training.

"He just wants to get back to playing first-team football and that's what he will be trying to do."

Pericard enjoyed a good pre-season campaign but was jailed on August 24th having been found guilty of perverting the course of justice during his time with Plymouth Argyle. He will serve just one month of the sentence.
