Coach Mark O'Connor says tonight's 2-2 draw with Port Vale was a fair result, although he wasn't happy with his sides performance in the first half.
The second string maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign when a great Demar Phillips strike levelled the scores with seven minutes remaining.
"That was Demar's third game and he's improving with every one.
"He's a slight lad but that didn't stop him from taking his goal well.
"I thought some of the players with a bit more experience could have done a lot better first half though and it was played a lot more like a reserve-team game than I'd have hoped.
"We weren't keeping possession well with the ball going back and forth between the two teams, and that's not right as it won't happen like that in the Championship.
"We've played four games in the reserves so far and set ourselves a good level and the first half was probably the worst we've been so far.
"Second half we did better, the tempo was better and was much more like a first-team game.
"I think it was a fair result, both teams had chances at either end but the keepers pulled off some good saves as well."
O'Connor and the players were backed by a good travelling support at Vale Park and the City coach was happy that they turned up to cheer the lads on.
"I can't complain about the fans at all, this is my second season here now and on the whole the majority get behind the team well."
"Last season when we had twenty odd thousand for the last home league game of the season with Colchester and did a lap of honour it was brilliant and if only we could get that all the time.
"We're still winning games though and pushing up the league so hopefully that'll happen sooner rather than later," added O'Connor.
