Dave Kemp is hoping all the club's hard work in the transfer market will soon come to fruition.
The management team have been working tirelessly to bring in new players, and the City Assistant believes they are getting closer.
But he insists looking for new signings doesn't mean the current crop of players aren't good enough.
He says: "When we are looking for new players it isn't critical of the players who are doing the job at the moment because they are doing fantastic.
"But we do need more numbers and it would be nice to get some more quality players in.
"I can assure you the manager is trying and I'd gladly like to announce something but I don't want to say anything yet because at this moment we haven't.
"Nothing's imminent but that's always changing by the hour and by the minute.
"Tony is always trying and hopefully we can bring someone in, even before tomorrow's game."
One player who has arrived at the Britannia Stadium this week however is former Preston North End midfielder Seyfo Soley.
The 27-year old has joined on trial, but Kemp says this isn't something out of the ordinary.
"It's nothing special, we do this all the time.
"He's just someone who came to our attention, we've invited him in for the week but obviously it's a three game week so it's not the ideal week to see him.
"He trained yesterday and trained very well but it's just the first step on what could be a long road before we make a decision.
"If they're good enough you take them and if they're not good enough you don't take them, that's what it's about really.
"You have to be careful though, someone could look really good in a 5-a-side game in training but could be a million miles away from doing it in a real game, so we'll see.
"There is a high failure rate because it's an unknown quantity but it's worth doing if you can get one out of it," he adds.
