Tony Pulis believes his side were unlucky not to have pulled of an FA Cup shock after Newcastle earned themselves a second bite of the cherry.

The City boss oversaw his side take the Premier League giants right to the wire, and believes lady luck wasn't shining down on his players.

"In the first half I thought we were a little tepid and held back a little bit," Tony admitted to Stoke City World

"But I thought second half was a much better performance from us

"I think we really got on our front foot, our widemen got forward a little bit further and stopped them from playing.

"We created lots and lots of good opportunities and had some really good ones in the second half.

"I haven't yet seen the replays but on another day, two or three of them chances could have gone in."

Pulis couldn't hide his delight with his players, including Danny Pugh, who showed his versitality by moving into midfield.

And the City boss says he is extremely proud of them all, saying, "Danny can player anywhere and I think he showed again what a great signing he is for a football club.

"He's only a young kiddie and his performance was excellent today.

"Then we have too very good defensive full-backs (Andy Wilkinson and Carl Dickinson) and when you ask them to go and mark people they really relish it.

"Everyone played a part today and I am very, very happy with how they performed for this football club."

A replay at St James' Park is now on the cards in two weeks time, and Pulis says he is delighted for everyone, especially the fans.

"I'm pleased for everybody at the football club that we have a replay and in particular for the supporters.

"We'll take loads of fans up there and they'll enjoy it.

"It's good times at this football club at the moment.

"It's very exciting and long may it continue."
