Midfield hotshot Liam Lawrence insists points are all that matters as the end of the season draws ever nearer.

A battling draw at Vicarage Road last Saturday moved the Potters back in to top spot in the Championship, and Lawrence, who penned a new contract extension yesterday, says if it means getting brutal to secure promotion that's what the players will do.

"I will take seven minging games now to get us up. I don't care how we win as long as we get there," smiled the 26-year old.

"You can't play well every week and pass the ball around non stop.

"Sometimes we do have to go ugly and scrape a win or pick up a point away at the third placed team.

"That's just what you have to do to get points, and to be honest as long as we get points on the board I don't care how we do it."

Newspaper reporters have been somewhat critical of City's style of play this season, despite being the second highest scorers in the division, but Lawrence says it just gives the players more reason to go out and prove them wrong.

"I don't care what them people say, let them get on with it," he says.

"If they want to say things like that to help them sell whatever they are selling then that is up to them.

"But if we get promoted I don't think we will really give a monkeys about what they think."
