Stein Signs Up
Former City favourite Mark Stein has confirmed he will be participating in the Gordon Banks XI v Pele XI on Saturday, 12th July.
The 'Golden One' enjoyed an extremely successful career at the Victoria Ground during the early 1990's scoring almost 60 goals in just over 100 appearances.
Two of his most memorable moments came in the Autoglass Trophy where he fired home the winner against Stockport County at Wembley, and in the League Cup where his exceptional brace secured a famous victory over Premier League Champions Manchester United.
Stein, 42, has recently began a new career in Physiotherapy and currently works for Barnet Football Club.
Speaking to stokecityfc.com about the upcoming game he said: "I can't wait for the game, it is going to be fantastic.
"I am really looking forward to playing in front of all the Stoke City supporters again, because as everyone knows I had such an amazing time there in the 90's.
"The club remains very special to me and it is an honour to be playing in a game which is featuring two of the best footballers ever to grace the planet.
"Gordon had a fantastic career and I am delighted that a statue is being made to commemorate the great man.
"The half time team talk will be unusual because goalkeepers don't normally tend to be in that position, but it will be a teamtalk I don't think I will ever forget."
