Experience Is The Key - Pele
Footballing legend Pele believes that experience is the key if Stoke City are to survive in the Premier League this coming season.
The Potters, who were promoted back into the top flight in May following a 23 year absence, face Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium in little over a month's time.
And speaking at this morning's press conference for the Gordon Banks XI vs Pele XI charity football match, the Brazilian striker believes the club can upset the odds by steering clear of relegation in their first season in the Barclays Premier League.
"It's going to be difficult," said Pele.
"Sometimes, when a team go up they are already prepared for the league, but what you always need is some experienced players.
"They need the experience because the level of football is a lot different.
"My team back home, Santos, were always the best team but when we came over in 1969, to play Stoke City, it was a different level.
"If they can add some players experienced at that level then, yes, I think they can do it."
City legend and Club President Gordon Banks echoed Pele's statement, believing that Tony Pulis and his backroom staff have what it takes to keep the club in the top flight.
"We can definitely stay up," said Banks.
"I know Tony Pulis has been working the players hard already since they returned to training, and with a few more signings, which I believe he is close to making, then I'm sure we will upset one or two critics.
"I'm still over the moon that we got promoted, and for today's events to come at the same time is a dream come true."

Tickets for today's event are still available from the Britannia Stadium Ticket Office, with admission priced at £12 for adults and £6 concessions with family tickets also available.
