Stoke City Football Club are delighted to announce the £3,000,000 signing of Nigerian international Seyi Olofinjana from Wolverhampton Wanderers, subject to a work permit.

Olofinjana, 28, has penned a four-year deal and becomes City's second highest transfer in the process.

The 6ft 4in midfielder joins the Potters having played a total of 147 games for Championship outfit Wolves during a four year spell at Molineux.

Announcing the deal, Chief Executive Tony Scholes said, "I'm delighted that we've signed a Nigerian international to compliment the rest of our squad.

"Seyi will be joining up with the rest of the players on Monday after they return from a successful pre-season tour in Austria."

Speaking on his new player, manager Tony Pulis said, "Seyi is a great acquisition for this football club, and I am delighted he chose to join us ahead of several other top flight clubs.

"He is a player we think will enhance the squad and again it shows our ambitions to be competitive in the Premier League."

Olofinjana joined Wolves from Norwegian side SK Brann for £1,700,000 in July 2004 having begun his professional career at Kwara United back in his homeland.

He made his debut for the Black Country club against the Potters on the opening day of the 2004/05 season, a fixture in which City won 2-1 in front of the television cameras.

In September 2006, Seyi would score the second in Wolves' 2-0 win over Tony Pulis' side at Molineux, a year in which his club went as far as the play-off semi-finals.

Last season he scored on the first and final days of the campaign, in the 2-1 defeat at home to Watford and the 1-0 win at home to Plymouth Argyle respectively.

He also featured for his country as recently as January where the Super Eagles faced Mamady Sidibe's Mali and the Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations.

His international team-mates include Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins and Everton duo Joseph Yobo and Yakubu.
