The Club are delighted to announce that boxing legend Muhammad Ali will be visiting the Britannia Stadium for a luncheon event on Thursday 27th August.

"The Greatest" will be in Stoke-on-Trent for one of only four dates in the United Kingdom.

Announcing the news, Chief Executive Tony Scholes told stokecityfc.com, "I'm delighted to say we've secured an agreement for Muhammad Ali to visit Stoke-on-Trent.

"He is only visiting three stadiums in the United Kingdom - Old Trafford in Manchester, Wembley Stadium in London and the Britannia Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent.

"It's going to be a fabulous event at the Britannia Stadium to welcome a true sporting legend.

Muhammad Ali himself commented, "The UK is very close to my heart.

"I want to visit again not only to raise awareness and funds for the Muhammad Ali Centre, but also to revisit such a wonderful country and to all my friends and fans here."

Carl Holness, of promoters Mammoth Events and Management, added, "We have worked tirelessly for over a year to bring the greatest living sporting icon to the UK and I am humbled and honoured to be welcoming Muhammad Ali back to this country.

"Being a lifelong Stoke City supporter I knew that 'The Greatest' had to come to the Britannia Stadium for an event once I knew he was coming.

"These incredible fundraising events promise to be a wonderful celebration of Muhammad Ali's life."

Ali will be in England to help raise awareness, support and funding for the Muhammad Ali Centre located in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky in the United States.

He will also be in attendance at the Alltech FEI Windsor European Jumping and Dressage Championships at Windsor Castle shortly after.
