Double Our Efforts - Fuller

Posted on: Fri 14 Aug 2009

City star Ricardo Fuller says both the players and the supporters need to double their efforts to build on last season's success.

The Jamaican international striker, who bagged an impressive 11 goals in his maiden Premier League campaign with the Potters, is adamant that if the Club wants to move forward then it must be done in an even more unified way than the 2008/09 campaign.

"We did so much last year through hard work and everyone involved with the club coming together as one, and that mustn't change this year," said Ricardo.

"Our goal is to stay up, first and foremost. But if we can manage to push forward and do better than we did before that would be fantastic.

"We know it is going to be a very difficult season so if we can double our efforts along with the supporters and take our chances then the sky is the limit for us.

"I am sure they [the supporters] are going to be brilliant again. There is really no place like the Britannia when they are in full voice.

"There are no fans like our fans so hopefully they will continue to do what they do best and really get behind us.

"In terms of cheering the team on and inspiring the team they are brilliant, and they will really have a big say in whether we have another successful season."

Fuller gained somewhat of a reputation last season following such an impressive showing, and should he find the back of the net tomorrow, he will have scored in four consecutive top-flight games following his strikes against Hull, Wigan and Arsenal.

Whether he achieves it or not remains to be seen, but he is confident that throughout the season he can replicate last season's form at the very least.

"I try to do the best I can and do what I do best, create goals, score goals and try to mesmerise players," he adds.

"I like to get behind players, out run players, that has always been me, and when I get the chance I have to take it. That is my job as a striker.

"Last year I managed to do just that with 11 goals and hopefully I will do better this year and score even more.

"Yes of course, that is my aim. If I don't think positive and be confident then I won't even be playing. But if I am and I show what I can do, I will play in the games and get confidence.

"If that happens I will score more goals than last year."
