Tony Pulis praised his players for the way in which they bounced back from the midweek defeat at Liverpool to claim a point at St Andrews.
City had to settle for a goalless draw after dominating long periods of the game and creating some good chances against newly-promoted Birmingham City.
And Pulis admitted: "We're a little disappointed that we didn't come away with the win in the end, but this was always going to be a difficult place to come to.
"I was really concerned about this run of three away matches, especially this one coming after the trip to Anfield in midweek.
"We had to extend so much energy in the Liverpool game and obviously the result affected us psychologically.
"So to come here and perform like that was very pleasing and we have now kept two clean sheets in our first three Premier League games of the season."
Pulis had particular praise for goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen, who pulled off a fine one-handed save to deny Gary O'Connor in the second half.
"That just shows how good his concentration levels are because he didn't have an awful lot else to do during the match," said City's manager.
