Good Cup Run Important - Pulis

Posted on: Tue 22 Sep 2009

TONY PULIS today stressed the importance of a good run in the Carling Cup . . .and highlighted the impact it can have on Stoke City's Premier League campaign.

The third round clash with giant-killers Blackpool falls four days before the visit of champions Manchester United to the Britannia Stadium, so Pulis is planning to give other members of his first team squad a run out in the tie on Tuesday evening.

City's manager will therefore get the opportunity to have a close look at those players who are pushing hard for a place in the Premier League line-up.

"It's an important game for us because it gives those players who are not in the side a chance to show why they should be picked," commented Pulis.

"We have a strong squad now and the more competition for places, the more that we will get out of the players who are currently in the side.

"It will be a tough test for us. Blackpool have made a fantastic start to the season under Ian Holloway, an infectious character who is doing a fine job."

He added: "We hope a big crowd will turn up because of the ticket prices and that will help the players and also help us to through to the next round."

Tickets for Tuesday's Carling Cup tie are priced at just £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for concessions. These are currently on sale from the Britannia Stadium Ticket Office and the Potteries Shopping Centre Club Store.

With the high demand for tickets for City's Premier League action at the Britannia Stadium, this Carling Cup tie is an excellent opportunity to see the Potters in action for a fraction of the normal matchday prices.
